JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL
HISTORY
Founded by: Henry Giessenbier on 13th October 1915 at St. Louise, Missouri, USA.
Under Name: Young Men’s Progressive Civic Association.
Changed to: Junior Citizens in August 1916
Changed to: Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1918
Changed to: Junior Chamber International at Mexico in December 1944
Changed to: Jaycees International at 27th World Congress Taiwan in 1972
Changed to: Junior Chamber International at Sydney in 1988
Jaycee Creed written by: William Brownfield of Colombus in 1946 and adopted in 1951
JCI Constitution: Drafted in 1946
JCI Senate: Formed by Phil Pugsley (1951, JCI-President) in 1952 at 7th World Congress in Melbourne, Australia.
1st World Congress at Panama City, USA, 1946.
1st JCI World President: Jc. Raul Gracia Vidal, Mexico in 1944
Current JCI Headquarter: Coral Gables, Florida, USA built in 1969 to celebrate 25th Anniversary of JCI.

1st JCI Secretary General: Philip Van Slyck
Official Publication: JCI-World started in 1954 and Published in English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
Name Changed to Leader in 1984.
1st Outstanding Young Person Ceremony at Taiwan in 1983 during 38th World Congress.
JCI-UNICEF Agreement: Signed in Nagoya Japan in 1986 during 41st World Congress.
Membership over 5 Lakhs in 12,000 LOM’s and 115 NOM’s.
ORGANISATION STRUCTURE:
Executive Committee: JCI-President, Immediate Past JCI-President, Four Executive Vice-Presidents, 17 Vice-Presidents and 3 Appointed officers namely General Legal Counsel, Treasurer and Secretary General.
JCI-World Congress: Takes place in October every year.
The venue for the World Congress is selected by General Assembly of the World Congress Two years in advance of the Congress.
JCI Official Languages: English, Spanish, French, Japanese.
Also used Languages are – Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, German, and Icelandic.
JCI Areas :– A- Africa, B – Asia and Oceanic, C- North America, South America and Caribbeans, D- Europe.

In more than 5,000 communities in over 115 countries worldwide.
